Reiki Master/Teacher KRISTIN REED

I first studied Reiki in 2005 in Sedona, Arizona at the Infinite Light Healing Center with Laurelle Shanti Gaia and Michael Baird. I became a Master/Teacher in 2006 in the Usui/Tibetan style of Reiki with Laurelle, Michael and William Lee Rand of The International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT).

In 2010 I became a Master/Teacher with Hykuten Inamoto Sensei from Tokyo in the Komyo Reiki Kai style as taught in Japan since the 1930's.

I am a member iof the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) and I am a Reiki Membership Associate (RMA) of the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). You can find me listed on both of these web sites. (See below for my Reiki Lineage chart.)

I always had an attraction to crystals and started collecting them as a child. After learning Reiki with Laurelle Gaia and inspired by her, I developed an interest in using them for healing. I studied crystal healing with her and have taken workshops with Mika Nelson of The Academy of Healing Arts and with Robert Simmons of Heaven & Earth Jewlery — author of "The Book of Stones" and "Stones of the New Consciousness".

I am a firm believer in volunteerism. In 2005 shortly after completing my Reiki II training, I started volunteering for World Cares at September Space, where practitioner-volunteers provided alternative energy modalities to serve the community of New Yorkers affected by the 9/11 tragedy. We treated firefighters, police, Ground Zero cleanup workers and anyone affected by the tragic events of 9/11. Unfortunately September Space closed in 2007 due to lack of funding, just when the people it served were presenting with major exposure illnesses.

I travel frequently to Guatemala and the Amazon Basin in Peru with the humanitarian group Healer2Healer www.healer2healer.org teaching Reiki to indigenous Mayan women in Guatemala and sharing in their ceremonies and observing their traditional herbal healing practices. In Peru H2H does acupuncture and Reiki clinics and training partnering with the Paititi Institute for the Preservation of the Amazon Rainforest www.paititi-institute.org. H2H works in indigenous communities where they form lasting community relationships with their hosts.

In addition, I do volunteer Reiki clinics and training in Chinatown at the Greater Chinatown Community Association through SPARK (Spirited Action Release and Kindness) www.sparkenergy.org. SPARK is a registered New York State 501c3 not-for-profit organization that provides free and accessible "energy work" services to the public, non-profits and other institutions. Pleaase go to the "Volunteer Work" tab to find out more and see pictures of the volunteer work I am doing with these groups.

When not doing energy healing work I am a Fine Artist with an MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and have a Chashama.org studio residency at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.
